1st February 2013

(Above) Coming down from the Inner Coire. Part of the Post Face nearest -almost obliterated by snow. Wintry, very wintry. Most of the gullies on our patch have long streaks of sluff debris in them & a lot of spindrift was coming down on to the crags as well. 3 groups of climbers had a look then went home, amongst them the Mountaineering Council of Scotland’s ‘Mountain Safety Officer’, Heather Morning.
Having had a close look myself it was a no-brainer to bail. However, a (fool?)hardy pair were seen in Staghorn Gully probably having a good wade and maybe wishing they hadn’t started. Spotted at 1 o’clock on the last pitch up The Pipes. A bold ascent – (I can think of another adjective beginning with ‘b’ but ending in l-l-s-y which might be more appropriate to use,…and they’ve certainly got big ones.)

(Above) 2nd in my collection of loch photos, this time with thin ice floes. (I know,…..but the weather was bad with very poor contrast for photography elsewhere)
