Approaching weather change?

20th March 2013

(Above) Lenticular cloud mid-afternoon today near Laggan. According to weather lore, lenticular clouds often presage a change in the weather, an approaching frontal system, perhaps.

(Above) Beinn a Chaorainn today. The top section of this east face has been heavily scoured.

(Above) The East Ridge of Beinn a Chaorainn in profile. Evidence of ongoing scouring top left of centre.
All that scoured snow is now lying on the other side of the hill and is underlain by a persistent weak layer in many places. Contrasty conditions, then, when moving from one aspect to another.
Visibility improved a lot during the day! Not much photographic potential earlier in the morning….
