Full on winter up high in the Inner Coire.

Full on winter up high in the Inner Coire.

Great start to the day with some sunshine at times but deteriorated into a pretty profound ‘white room’ experience above 800m later. It really messes your brain up when you’re expecting a half decent day only to be time-shifted back to January! Surprised by the weather then and not entirely best equipped for it either…no goggles = big mistake! Plenty of swirling snow and frequent spindrift avalanches from the steep crags in the Inner Coire.  Slabby, too: long shooting cracks above 850m where tested.

Very poor stability tomorrow (Saturday) as heavy snow turn to rain at all levels. The photos below are for reference only since overall mountain will be poor. Freezing level projected to rise to 1700m with heavy snow turning to rain at all levels.

Large cornices in place with some new additional development noted.

Wee video panorama for you (below) taken from close to the summit of The Window during a lull in the maelstrom.
