Spring is well-established…

21st April 2017

…..but still capable of wrong-footing you in the clothing department. Morning rain gave way to interludes of warm sunshine but also the odd blustery shower. Much cooler in the showers and quite windy, too, but no new snow at the time of reporting.

(Above) Lambing’s been and gone in Laggan. The grass is growing nicely and the birch are just starting to show a little leaf. Much colder weather on the weather radar for next week though. Looking towards Coire a Bheinn, Coire Dubh and Coire nan Gall.

(Above) Sron a Ghoire, its undulating plateau and few remaining snow patches.

(Above) Uh oh! The cairn builders are back. A sign of a transition to summer? Different user group, different values?

(Above) Coire Chriochairein. Wreaths of old snow remain around some coire rims – mainly on North to East aspects. Snow in some gully lines but most are now broken.

(Above) The Post Face of Coire Ardair this afternoon.

(Above) Looking back to the Creag Meagaidh massif from ‘The Centre of Scotland’  (‘The Window’ is just identifiable on the far skyline.)
