Coire Ardair debris from Monday’s avalanches

2nd March 2010

(Above) Clearly visible from the A86

(Above) Broken trees and boulders entrained in the debris

(Above) The course of the main path in Coire Ardair. Debris several metres deep

(Above) 400m crownwall on this one – 1.5m to 2m high.

(Above) Looking up the track of the other avalanche. Crownwall approx. 2.5m (conservative estimate) and much wider than thought – it broke further right on to the shoulder. Overall 200m wide?

SNH Creag Meagaidh advising visitors to keep close to the river if accessing Coire Ardair as there is still significant potential for further avalanches to cross the usual path. Sound advice for the moment.
