Pretty picture day

17th February 2011

Above: No climbers on any Post Face routes today.
Above: Smith’s in Raeburn’s Gully. Evidence of recent foot traffic but no climbers seen.
Above: Staghorn and The Pipes. Some good-looking ice but again very quiet.
Above: The Pinnacle and Easy Gully. Some late foot traffic down Easy Gully with a judicious line taken at the top avoiding the “full” bowl.

Above: The Inner Corrie. The ‘Brenin were in in numbers – note the camel-train at the bottom. Brilliant trail-breakers!
Above: Pumpkin seemed to be the route of choice today with multiple ascents and a little queueing at times.
Above: Cinderella. Two mountaineers enjoying some fine weather sport in one of ‘Meggie’s lower grade gullies. Big cornice! Today’s pit was done here. Stability wasn’t bad in most places, main concern were high exits especially NW aspects above about 1000m where the slab is deep and distinctly questionable.

Getting windy tomorrow with more snow forecast Friday/Saturday.
