Cornices

1st March 2014

(Above) Very large cornice above Coire a Chriochairein.
(Above) Coire a Chriochairein – the cornice on the right collapsed this morning. Note the trace of drifting; drifting continued all day above 900m.

(Above) Cornices from the Pipes and all the way around Cinderella and towards The Window. The one above The Wand and Diadem is monstrous.

(Above) Plenty of good mountain sport to be had away from the cornices and windslab: two hillwalkers pick a good route up the scoured NE shoulder of Sron a Ghoire.

(Above) The Post Face. Most routes remain buried. All gullies well banked-out but a definite wade in the lower reaches. Gully and crag routes threatened by massive cornices and/or windslab on exit ramps. I have never seen so much snow in Easy Gully.
