More pics of Sunday’s avalanches.

23rd December 2014

CDav(Above) Avalanche and cornice debris from Sunday’s avalanche cycle. Picture is of Coire Dubh above the A86.

CNGav(Above) Coire nan Gall: avalanche and cornice debris from Sunday. Note the full depth avalanche low on the left shoulder.

SAGav(Above) Sron a Ghoire, above Aberarder Farmhouse. Highest point on the skyline is approx 800m. Debris from Sunday’s full depth avalanche; this one slid on very steep grass/heather. Plenty of glide cracks in other places nearby, too. This particular slope produces more than its fair share of full depth avalanches.

PFavdebris(Above) The Post Face today. Wet slab avalanche debris from Sunday visible in the bottom of Easy Gully and below the opening ramp of Staghorn Gully.

Icing sugar-like dusting of snow over the crags.

Coire Dubh is a lovely little visited place. I enjoyed a wee explore last summer.
