Frustrated by the lack of mountain sport this week-end…?

‘Oui, Oiu’, the iconic ice route on Creag Dubh crag nr Newtonmore. Â Not looking promising. A tad drippy for winter sport today?
‘Oui, Oui’ definitely out of condition then. As an alternative, some shinty perhaps…..?
Kingussie’s famous shinty pitch at The Dell this morning: awaiting a pitch inspection…
…..The Dell this afternoon. The shinty boys are hardy but the match was abandoned due to “waterlogged” pitch. I thought so…
Well,…some soccer then?
Kingussie’s soccer pitch looking just about OK first thing…..
….tide seems to have come in by the afternoon. (The shinty boys commandeered a corner of it for practice though.)
Upper Strathspey looking towards the Carn Liath massif. Ephemeral ‘Loch Badenoch’ appears ‘Brigadoon’-style overnight.
Coire Chriochairein today. Visibility poor and got worse…..
The Allt Dubh burn just below the vehicle bridge nr. Aberarder Farmhouse. Roaring with meltwater and surface run-off.

Its been a few years since flooding on the shinty pitch and certainly not a day climbing hills.

That waterfall was running quite strongly when we were up on Craig Dubh last week.
And I’m glad we were up in Newtonmore last week and not this one!
