Dreich day
11th March 2016
(Above) Dreich pretty much all day today.
The rainfall was a bit of a surprise and made for soggy surface layers.
Managed to glimpse the crownwall and debris of an avalanche at the base of Centre Post through binos on the way out of Coire Chriochairein. You can’t see it in the photo but there’s a crownwall just above the entrance to Easy Gully at the base of the first pitch of Centre Post (snowy bay immediately right of centre of the photo – where the low cloud meets the snow).
More rain at all levels in the forecast for Saturday. Some very large cornices around that will become much heavier and weaker in this meltdown.
