A wander into the white void

(Above) Much whiteness & mistiness at 810m in the lee of the Creag Mhor ridge today. Drifting snow did nothing to improve matters except add texture. The photo received a lot of work in post production to improve contrast, too!

 

(Above) Only marginally better viz below 700m when descending.

 

(Above) At last some contrast! A slow thaw has started down low but the ice on the burn draining out of Coire Choile Rais still had a thick mantle of ice this afternoon. Photo at 350m.

 

(Above) Curtain of icicles on crags at 400m.

Persistent snowfall in the forecast overnight and during Tuesday. Stability expected to decline further on all steep lee slopes. Good stability where wind-scoured though.
