Limited snowpack

19th December 2018

(Above) Lochan a Choire, Pinnacle Buttress and the Post Face of Coire Ardair this morning.

(Above) A peek at Eastern Corner, Raeburn’s Gully and the Pinnacle Buttress. All gullies very narrow and/or broken.

(Above) One of Creag Meagaidh’s signature ice routes, ‘Last Post’ in Easy Gully, still hanging on in there. (Ice quality/thickness = unknown).

(Above) Far right: Bellevue Buttress with the top of Puist Coire Ardair up above it in the mist. One of our largest patches of snow at the moment? One (of two) winter mountaineers spotted making their way up to the skyline – at 1000m – by way of the 50m wide wreath of snow on this northerly aspect. Limited opportunities for winter sport in our area.
