Visibility dismay

27th March 2019

(Above) 800m in the Inner Coire today. The camera is pointing towards The Window. No, I couldn’t see it either. Guessimated that the top of the bealach was about 100m horizontal distance away my camera position. Visibility using ‘Mk1 eyeball’ was about 25m.  Persistent light rain too for most of the morning.

(Above) Better definition looking back down to Lochan a Choire in Coire Ardair. Snowpack is now in full melt mode and getting patchier.

(Above) A glimpse into Easy Gully. Older avalanche debris litters the bottom end of this gully. Raeburn’s Gully is complete from top to bottom but with wet snow at all altitudes.

Minor full depth snow slides are possible from the innumerable benches and ledges of the Post Face in the present thaw conditions.
