New Year’s Day

1st January 2020

(Above) Sums up the snow cover pretty well. A look into the lower end of the Moy Coire whilst en route to the high glen below An Cearcallach. Snow patches limited to areas above 800m. More of them on Sron a Ghoire’s E-facing aspect but still a very modest cover. Brown & beige in all other places. (The skyline in the photo above goes from about 750m up to 900m.)

(Above) Quite hazy or murky atmospheric conditions today. The view west over Lochan na Cailliche towards the streaky snow patches on the outliers of the Grey Coires.

(Above) Beinn a Chlachair 1087m – approx 12km SE of Creag Meagaidh. A wreath of old snow lies around its N to E facing coire.

(Above) Looking SW towards the sliver of silver in the far distance that is Loch Ghuilbinn, with Strath Ossian just around the corner.

Unfriendly looking weather tomorrow, Thursday; wind & rain mainly with a little summit snow.
