Strong winds on the tops

16th March 2020

(Above) A dry and bright day to start, before showers began to affect the area after midday. Conditions firm underfoot at higher elevations – although strong winds stopping play for many on the tops. Coire a Chriochairein looking serene and almost alpine, with the Inner Coire and the slopes to the Window in a cauldron to it’s left.

(Above) Swirls of spindrift blowing around along ridges for most of the day. Here at the top end of Sron a Ghoire’s NE Gullies

(Above) One of a group of ski tourers managing to pick their way through the lower slopes of Sron a Ghoire, after their run out early afternoon – definitely got the best of the day, as the showers were just starting to affect the area. There’s still good enough cover around, although it’s a 20-30 min hoof back to Aberarder, from around 400 metres
