Covid -19


The Scottish Avalanche Information Service issues information to support permitted activity under current Scottish Government guidance.  Please be aware of travel restrictions within Scotland and respect local communities by referring to Scottish Government guidance and how to participate safely by referring toMountaineering Scotland guidance


(Above) Beinn a Chaorainn, East Ridge. An overnight light dusting of snow to around 700m soon disappeared during the day. Modest accumulations above 800m, on mostly bare ground or well bonded to old isolated patches.

(Above) Quiet (but not alone!) An overtaking pair making good time, before then disappearing above into the gloom

(Above) Only some small cornice lines around Beinn a Chaorainn’s notorious coire rim. A place for good navigation between summits (and not in a straight line) !
