Is it the end now?

8th May 2021

On the hill today this was about the best view I had before heading up into Coire a’ Chriochairein, the coire on the right of the photo.  While up there the weather deteriorated significantly with much stronger winds, snow showers (some with graupel) and lowering cloud base.

Looking towards Coire Ardair, with diminishing snowpack especially at lower and mid levels.

For this weekend forecasting resumed. The publishing of today’s for Sunday 09 May is likely to be the last for this winter as the outlook is for milder conditions with the freezing level remaining at or above the summits. Thawing and consolidation should continue.

We will continue to monitor the situation and if things change ………………………
