Filthy weather

12th February 2022

(Above) Coire Ardair and the Post Face. Terrible weather today: mild and wet throughout the morning, then a tropical-like downpour in the early afternoon which really took the biscuit. Some avalanche action in Easy Gully (probably pre-dawn) not visible in the photo but eyeballed it through smeary binos. Otherwise, some early and progressive consolidation in the wet or moist snowpack.

(Above) The photo gives a pretty fair reflection of the snow cover at the moment. Skis not a bad idea for access today but only above 400m, though skiing not a particularly joyful experience due to the shocking overhead conditions and wet soft snow.

Cornices are expected to remain prone to collapse on Sunday.
