Cornice ‘shedding’. There’s been little change this past week – stable snowpack ; cool overnight, then firm in the shade, softening during the day -  bits of cornice dropping off every now and then …… I came up with ‘shedding’. Quite like that.

(Above) Coire a Chriochairein (Stone Coire) Cornice sections on this Easterly aspect ‘shedding’ during the mild daytime temperatures today, on these sun affected aspects. At this time of year this can often result in various rocks and detritus ,being pulled out on the slope below, by falling chunks of cornice. Difficult to predict the ‘as and when ‘of it all. Thaws and sunshine usually good enough indicators….
