Experience matters…

9th March 2022

A mild and blustery day, any hoped for cooler conditions were slow to materialise as the day progressed.

(Above) Sron a Ghoire. Slump and creep lines at approx 800m on Easterly aspects (some old) continue to develop today in the mild conditions. The cold period later will help stabilise.

(Above)  Met a couple of ‘experienced old climbing hands’ making their exit from the coire around midday. The cooler weather having failed to materialise and  new windblown snow at the top of their exit gullies influencing the decision to come back another day ……

Timing is everything -  the mountain will always be there!

(Above) Late afternoon. A couple of skiers make their way to the snowline (pretty high!) in the direction of Cairn Liath. Hopeful that the forecast for the drop in the strong winds and  lowering temperatures were not far away. I hope they were right and they managed to get a few turns in for their efforts.

Good calls being made by all the playmakers with their differing games today, in the ‘winter wonderland’ of Creag Meagaidh.

Respect!
