Creag Meagaidh default weather
21st December 2022
Heavy rain in the Aberarder car park (270m) this morning transitioned to snowfall above 600m. Some wind? Of course!
Unfortunately, Goretex was bested by a fairly typical ‘robust’ winter weather day at Creag Meagaidh today!
(All photos were heavily edited to add some contrast.)
(Above) The Post Face of Coire Ardair & Lochan a Choire (620m). A covering of fresh snow everywhere above 600m though it was really quite damp snow.
(Above) Easy Gully below the Post Face. Crags plastered with a superficial cover of moist snow.
(Above) The Window (940m) in the Inner Coire. Still bouldery but there’s noticeably more new snow (windslab) left and right on the approach slopes to this bealach.
Less windy with few(er) showers, too, on Thursday.

Looks just lovely…but we know not really winter yet. Forecast looking good. Hares being plentiful and white is a very good sign. (Trying to be positive)❄️☃️

Experience shows that even a double or triple Goretex day is no match for ‘full on’ Scottish conditions…….but then you probably knew that anyway!

Haha! A definite ‘no contest’, Keith.
