Beinn a’ Chaorainn

5th January 2023

I headed up to the East ridge of Beinn a’ Chaorainn today to see how snow conditions were at the West end of the Creag Meagaidh forecast area. Wet snow with a crust which was mostly breakable underfoot was found. Dry in the morning with light winds with an increasing South-East wind, rising temperatures and rain in the afternoon.

Poor visibility in cloud above 750 metres so a few photos taken below that elevation below.

Looking up to the base of the East ridge of Beinn a’ Chaorainn with the main ridge hidden in the cloud.

Looking into Coire nan Laogh, Creag Meagaidh.

Snow in the woods at 550 metres.
