Contrasts

15th January 2024

A day of contrasts with cold clear blue skies and sunshine to grey cloudy summits in the isolated snow showers, light to moderate North-Westerly winds. Small pockets of fresh soft windslab in sheltered areas around crags, coire rims and gullies above 850 metres with the old existing snow pack being generally hard and frozen, a breakable crust lower down. From a busy weekend to solo visitors, a quiet day on the hill.

Forecast for more snow tomorrow but amounts are uncertain so one to watch out for. Check weather forecast in the morning, especially for the timing and amount of snowfall. The hazard maybe greater than forecast and plans might need to change.
