Squally showers

22nd January 2024

Storm Isha passed by last night to leave a still very windy day with showers. It was very noticeable during the showers that the wind increased, the temperature dropped and the visibility became very poor. No photos of this, sorry.

The older snowpack has consolidated in the recent melt/freeze cycle but fresh unstable windslab was accumulating during the day. See the avalanche report for full details. Further fairly extreme temperature fluctuations expected tomorrow.

The heavy rain and snowmelt caused by Storm Isha now passing the Laggan dam.

Fresh snow at 500 metres on the Corrie Ardair path.

Coire a’ Chriochairien

As good as the visibility got in Coire Ardair.
