Thawing to most levels.

20th January 2024

It was a damp day today, with some rain to most levels. Only the very highest summits saw a bit of sleet and snow. The snowpack was generally consolidating. There remains significant amounts of snow on the steep North to East aspects high up. As storm Isha comes in, rapidly rising temperatures tomorrow afternoon, accompanied by rain, will create a considerable hazard on these aspects due to the weakening snowpack, and collapsing cornices. Please see the forecast for details.
