Grey and Cloudy

10th March 2024

It was a grey and cloudy day in Coire Ardair today. However, it was not too windy and it remained dry. The freezing level was around 900 metres. There were a few teams climbing today, but I have definitely seen the routes having more ice on them than they do at the moment.

Not a great deal of winter left at the level of the loch (which is slightly above 600 metres).

It was looking a bit more wintry up in the Inner Coire. There were a few teams out climbing.

Some old avalanche debris. The gully in the back ground is route Cinderella, and has been the location a number of avalanches over the years. Just about visible in the picture is the substantial cornice at the top of it. Not a hazard at the moment as things hard pretty firm, but could pose a problem when it inevitably turns milder.
