(Above) The Carn Liath plateau.

(Above) Returning to planet Earth.  Coming down out of the mist and strong winds towards Aberarder.

Quite inhospitable up high today with challenging winds, occasional sleety snow showers and poor visibility. Winds are due to ease down overnight and it should be dry at least until later in the afternoon on Friday. Expecting significant consolidation in the snowpack in most places with just a little residual instability in most recent windslab on aspects with a bit of West on them.

(Above) Heading for home on the SAIS All-Terrain vehicle. Oh, how I wish!

Ha – chapeau for imagination! However, that ATV would never work in Scotland – not enough sun for its solar powered dish – plus that SAIS forecaster is moving way too jauntily with such an enormous (obviously oxygen filled?) rucksack……!!! Or is some ned approaching out of shot left to pilfer the buggy before he gets there?

      Jeep? Or Land Rover?

Probably wouldn’t work because it’s an American-made Jeep so refuse to start. If it was a Land Rover, it would also be useless because the dashboard would be lit up with an array of engine management lights and resemble your average Christmas tree, or get stolen at the first opportunity!

yes – Land Rover, following in true British Leyland fashion, have a reputation for having the build quality of an Airfix model put together by a 5 year old. What you need is a Mercedes G Wagen, although that would clearly blow several years (decades?) of SAIS funding……

      Mmm…G-wagen. Now you’re talkin’!
