The colours of early winter?

17th December 2024

(Above) E and ESE aspects in Coire Chriochairein. The place with the most snow in our area? Probably. Really very sparse snow cover now at Creag Meagaidh. A little new snow from dawn onwards on Weds but not expecting it to add much to the paltry amount we have at present.

(Above) Spotted this yesterday from afar through mist and rain. Speculated at the time it might be debris from a minor full depth snow slide, but on the evidence seen today more likely a small wet snow avalanche which entrained some soil, and emanating from below the crag above centre skyline.

(Above) The colours of winter. Tan, khaki, grey and brown with a few white snowy highlights. Looking down from Coire Chriochairein towards Aberarder and Loch Laggan.
