A view!

2nd February 2025

It didn’t feel like the summits were going to make an appearance today, but around midday the cloud broke briefly to give an opportunity for some photos.

Although the snowpack has been slowly consolidating over the last few days, instabilities remain in deeper accumulations of snow.

Tomorrow is forecast to be wet and mild, with wet snow instabilities being present on steep North-West to East aspects above 850 metres. The small cornices that remain will be weak and prone to collapse. There is also potential for rock and ice fall.

The view back down towards Aberarder and Loch Laggan. There will be snow loss tomorrow due to the rain and mild temperatures, so it will be interesting to see how much of this low lying snow will survive the thaw.

Sròn a’ Choire and Puist Coire Ardair.

The East facing slopes of Coire a’ Chriochairein.

Coire Ardair was in cloud for much of the morning but the crags made a brief appearance. Although they are small, cornices can be seen around the top of the crags, which tomorrow will be unstable and prone to collapse.
