Change came there none.

10th February 2025

(Above) The Big Picture. Groundhog Day-esque over the past few days – and probably for quite a few more. Little change in snowpack dynamics again today. Areas of minor concern remain the older (now somewhat localised) snow deposits on steep N to E aspects above 1000m. Elsewhere, and at all other altiudes, stability is very good. The car park at Creag Meagaidh was 75% full this morning which was excellent for a Monday but I guess it is half term for some so not that surprising.

(Above) The view ESE from Bealach Leamhain with the snowy Drumochter hill in the far distance. Ventured into the unaptly named ‘Ardverikie Forest’ today to do a snow inventory check on SAIS Creag Meagaidh’s southern boundary. Reasonable cover but best on N to E aspects above 800m. (Ardverikie ‘Forest’ – forest in this sense an old term used to describe an area used for hunting?)

(Above) The brightly lit hulking mass of Beinn a Chaorainn. A bit more overcast than anticipated where I was but Beinn a Chaorainn seemed to hang on to a fair amount of sun during the morning. No doubt the East Ridge saw a bit of foot traffic today.
