Before the rain

4th March 2025

It was a mild dry day with the freezing level above all summits. The snowpack is slowly thawing and is generally stable.

Tonight persistent rain at all levels is forecast, which will speed up the thaw, and weaken the cornices that have featured in the last 2 days blogs.

(Above) My first frog sighting of the year. It was very reluctant to move off the path.
