Not the best viz on Saturday

22nd March 2025

(Above) Just a glimpse of the crags in upper Coire Ardair left and Coire a Chriochairein right. Persistent thick cloud down to 800m today didn’t make for many (any?) decent photographic opportunities above this altitude. It was unrelentingly mild and slightly damp overnight and during the day though with less rainfall in our area than forecast. What remains of the very patchy snow cover is moist, thawing and diminishing at all altitudes.

(Above) Looking down towards Aberarder and Loch Laggan form Coire a Chriochairein. Seemed a little less cloudy and slightly brighter to the south of Creag Meagaidh.

Somewhat more wintry weather in prospect for Sunday. Expecting a little snowfall down to about 900m but only a modest amount of wind drifted accumulations above 950m. Most of this will form on bare ground and be fairly innocuous. However, it will be good to see the tops of our hills wearing at least a little seasonal wintry whiteness!
