Creag Ruadh
4th April 2025
Another stunning day on the hill today. Temperatures in the glen first thing were reading around -2 degrees Celsius, with evidence of frost. As soon as the heat of the sun kicked in, temperatures rose to a balmy 15-18 degrees, feeling hot when sheltered from the cool Easterly breeze.
The remaining snow patches are located mainly on steep North through East to South-East aspects above 1000 meters. These will have firmed up overnight before softening on sunny aspects as the day went on.
Observations today were from Creag Ruadh (622m) located in the Eastern edge of the Creag Meagaidh area. The summit features one of the less common ‘Vanessa style’ trig points and offers an amazing view across the whole forecast area.
The photos below provide an overview of what is left of ‘winter’.

A view looking West down Loch Laggan. the summit of Ben Nevis is just visible with the East faces of Aonach Mor and Aonach Beag etched with snow.
