Cloudy, rising freezing level and becoming wet.

13th December 2025

There was a dusting of new snow above 900m this morning. During the late morning the freezing level rose above all summits and afternoon precipitation fell as rain at all levels. This led to a sustained thaw of the overnight snow.

It is expected to be mild, with the freezing level well above all summits, and wet overnight, and throughout Sunday. Any remaining recent snowfall will thaw in the mild wet conditions. The old snowpack will be limited to small receding high altitude snow patches, and will diminish in extent. There will be insufficient snow to warrant an avalanche hazard category.
