Mild and damp.

17th December 2025

There was some overnight snow above around 800 metres. The freezing level rose above all summits just before dawn, following which there was light rain at all levels during the day. Recently deposited snow is wet and thawing at all levels, and much reduced in extent. Greatest remaining snow lies on North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres.

This evening and overnight the freezing level will lower again to 800m and the remaining snow will refreeze. New windslab will be deposited overnight in wind sheltered locations.

(Above) Most of the time I was out on the hill visibility was similar to this.  However, there were a few brief spells of better visibility as illustrated in the next two photos.
