Mild and Rainy

25th February 2026

What a difference to the last weeks – quiet today with only a few folk about. Winter conditions  are now so ephemeral and it is a sign of the times that as winter climbers, ski tourers and winter walkers we have to be more opportunistic in making the most of what we can get in this changing climate!

The disappearing snow and ice was evident today in the cloud and rain,  ice is still hanging on but certainly below crags at the moment one needs to be aware of  rock and ice fall and any snow debris coming off crags or down gullies.!  getting colder though after tomorrow!

Freudian slip or perceptive observation on your first photo comment – given the current thaw, perhaps the crags were ‘peeing’ out below the cloud rather than peering?

yes both words work – although a predictive text thing!
