The nth busy day at Creag Meagaidh. Great sunshine and cold temperatures again however there’s a big change in weather and avalanche hazard forthcoming, beginning overnight Saturday and extending into Sunday and for the rest of the day.

(Above) En route to Geal Charn 1049m paid a visit to Bealach Leamhain and its namesake loch. In a few years time there’ll be a 30m high dam wall at the far end of this remote loch.
(Above) Surface hoar aplenty but not where the sun had done its work. Tonight and tomorrow’s snowfall will be accumulating on shaded lee slopes where this will be more widespread.
(Above) Cornice debris on a W aspect from an event in excess of a week ago after there had been persistent drifting on SE winds.
(Above) A distant view across the Grey Coires towards the back bowls of Aonach Mor. All looking impressively white and bathed in winter sunshine.
(Above) Coire Choille Rais and the Creag Meagaidh summit plateau. Surface conditions vary from hard snow-ice to crunchy rime to soft cold snow.
