A dry day

18th March 2026

It was a dry day with moderate winds. There was some cloud around at summit level but also plenty of sunshine.

The snowpack is slowly consolidating and stability is generally good. Similar conditions are expected for tomorrow with a slowly thawing and consolidating snowpack.

Some views from around Coire Ardair below.

Patchy snow cover on the South side of Carn Liath.

Better cover on a North-West aspect on Meall an t-Snaim.

There was a picture of open pipes and water coming over the dam in yesterdays blog. Although it was dry today there’s still a lot of water running off the hills from recent rain and snowmelt. The pipes are generally only open when there’s excess water.
