A Top 10 Day.

25th March 2026

… but only in terms of infamy! One of the wintriest days on the hill for me this winter. 9 to 10cm of new snow on the Coire Ardair path at 500m this morning and with plenty of drifting above 800m all day. Really punchy snow showers – one after the other – throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. Was a bit of a wade in the lower reaches of one ESE-facing gully at 850m in Coire Chriochairein. As ever, visibility was very poor too. The sun could be seen in outline behind cloud but never properly appeared.

Expecting drifting to continue overnight and into the morning even in the absence of snowfall. Might see some early consolidation of all snow later tomorrow as the freezing level rises to 800m but touchy windslab likely to be prevalent on lee slopes above 900m prior to that.

Opportunites for photography were limited by the poor overhead conditions so no landscape shots for you today unfortunately.

(Above) The sun. Notable by its absence today at Creag Meagaidh…but it came out periodically when driving east later in the afternoon and felt quite warm.
