Continuing snow showers
28th March 2026
Lots of new snow lying to lower levels today. The snow showers continued to rattle in from the west. The heavier showers were most likely overnight and during the morning. Todays venue choice for observations was Sron a’ Choire above Aberarder. There was a degree of shelter from the strong westerly winds, on the down side there was also deep snow drifts which made for tough going. Progress was made and it was noted that sun exposed slopes were beginning to slowly consolidate. However, northerly facing slopes continued to harbour multiple weak layers in the new snow pack. (see report for more detail).
Sron a’ Choire with new snow down to around 400 metres.
This was the same view on the way down during one of the many snow showers.
Quite reactive snow on this Nort-Easterly aspect at around 800 metres.
Still weaknesses on this South-Easterly slope, although there was noticeably more effort to create this crack and some consolidation was slowly taking place due to warming from the sun.
Wind feature at around 850 metres.
Firm snow ice on a Northerly aspect.
Coire a’ Chriochairein.
Snow drifts on a South-Easterly aspect around 700 metres.

Seems like there’s a problem with seeing your pictures currently or how they are loading (certainly for me) – only the first photo is showing and then just captions. Yesterday was only captions and no photos. One for an IT guru to solve?

I think there was a problem loading photos to Worpress yesterday. The frame of the photo is present in our WordPress photo library but with no image in it.

I’m not sure if it’s the devices I’m trying to read the page on but a lot of the photos are missing.
Cheers

See other response, Cameron. I’m working on Sunday’s blog posting now and the photo uploading looks OK at the moment.
