Hazy sunshine.

20th March 2026

Effective snow line now circa 700m with larger patches above this altitude. Firmer snow surface where shaded this morning but snow everywhere was softer by midday. Distinctly hazy for a time which hampered photography somewhat, but very pleasant to be out on the hill today.  En route to Geal Charn 1049m and Creag Pitridh from Moy, I passed a team carrying rope etc so presumably were heading for Binnean Shuas. Not a bad shout given the sunshine and cooling breeze.

(Above) Beinn a Chlachair, from Creag Pitridh, holding a reasonable amount of snow on its N to E flanks above 800m.

(Above) NW flank of Geal Charn 1049m. The bealach close to Cuil Mhaigh at the bottom of the photo.

(Above) Somewhat hazy shot of Beinn a Chaorainn left with a lip of snow running along the edge of the Moy Coire right of centre. Above it, and just visible, is a narrow strip of snow that delineates the line the Moy Wall.
