A soggy affair

Our mostly cosmetic cover of recent snow, below 600 metres, has all but disappeared. A rise in overnight temperatures and rain affected all elevations. Today continued a soggy affair, with a light drizzle throughout (lovely). The Southerly airflow strengthened in summit areas as the day progressed.
(Above) Sron a Ghoire, with its Bealach to Left. The front face at around 800 metres is a known site of full depth avalanches, on our patch; the angle is right on the sweet spot of 38 degrees. This together with the relatively smooth bed surface is then never a good combination, in the event it becomes windslab loaded. In spite of there being little of note snow-wise, terrain features such as these good to log in the memory if you’re out and about (in the rain!)

Welcome back. Have any of the hares turned white or do they know this winter will be total rubbish? Looks like you should plan on big wellies rather than snow shoes.

Good to be back, Stan. Seen a few hares up high quite recently (more than usual?) and all in more or less full winter white coat.
You’re right about the wellies. The snowshoes are now firmly back in their place in the store room!
