Coire Ardair

Although it was dry and bright today, the winds remained very strong from the South. Unfortunately the cloud hung over the high tops of Creag Meagaidh and Beinn a Chaorainn, obscuring views of any cornices that may remain around the coire rims. However, cornices were still evident around the top of Coire a Chriochairein.
Little change is expected for tomorrow, as the slow thaw continues and the snowpack becomes further depleted.
Coire a Chriochairein. This was ‘busy” today with more walkers counted ascending here than in Coire Ardair.
Cornice overhanging East aspect, with cornice collapse evidence in the right-hand side of the photo.

Beinn A’Chaorainn, with it’s fine East ridge on the right-hand side.
Lochan a’Choire with Pinnacle Buttress behind. Compare this with the photo from 2 days ago (11th Feb) and despite the thaw conditions, there hasn’t been much snow loss in this location over the 48 hour period.
The upper reaches of Easy Gully.
Crampons were required for walking up to ‘The Window’ today.
The base of the winter climbing routes “The Sash” and “Cinderella”.
Snow cover in the boulders passing through “The Window’ was thin with potential to break through the snow.
