Water!!

23rd December 2023

I think it is fair to day that today’s theme is water. With the freezing level rising above the summits late last evening persistent, sometimes heavy, precipitation fell as rain at all levels. The rain, combined with snow melt, led to some flooding in the glens.

Views of the hills were distinctly limited today due to low cloud and moisture laden atmosphere.

Tomorrow winds will be very strong West-South-Westerly. The freezing level will be over the summits overnight, then at dawn will drop to around 1100m. Subsequently, during the day, light showers will fall as snow only on the highest summits.

During the day light snow showers on the highest summits will be blown around by the very strong West-South-West winds. Any deposits will only be in very sheltered locations at the highest levels.
