(Above) Kingussie shinty club’s car park area this morning, forming part of greater ‘Loch Badenoch’ at the moment. Rain stops play?
Yep, it’s been wet again.
(Above) The view west from Auchmore on the A86. ‘Loch Badenoch’ extends west as far as Laggan at the moment.
(Above) Coire Dubh from the A86 roadside this morning during a welcome break in the incessant low cloud cover. Now that we have some visibility it’s a bit easier to spot old residual snow patches. There aren’t too many though!
(Above) Coire nan Gall, next door to Coire Dubh. However, huge swathes of brown/kahaki/grey vegetation and exposed rock abound in our area.
(Above) Surf’s up! Looking west across Loch Laggan towards the east face of Sron a Ghoire. The winds abated a bit but not much.
(Above) Pano of the East Ridge of Beinn a Chaorainn from inside the wee coire. Speaks volumes!
(Above) A few more snow patches around the rim of Coire na h-Uamha, just north of Beinn a Chaorainn.
Drier and cooler overnight then a series of snow showers developing in the morning (some ambiguity on snow amounts) but anticipating the build up of some windslab on top of those (sparsely distributed) old snow patches above 900m. Any new snow forming on bare ground at similar altitudes expected to offer little or no hazard.
White Christmas? I think it’ll be raining down low unfortunately.
