Stone Coire in the rain.

It was a wet morning and early afternoon. Fortunately I was up and down before the rain was at its heaviest. Mid afternoon some clearer cooler conditions arrived. Looks like a reasonable day tomorrow before the next weather system arrives in the evening.
A not very good view into Coire Ardair. However, this is as good as it got visibility wise during my time on the hill.
The view into Coire a’ Chriochairein somewhat twisted and distorted due to water on the lens. This coire is a common spot for us to visit and is colloquially known amongst forecasters as The Stone Coire.
The stone of Stone Coire. This big rock sits just below the Coire, and is quite obvious from above (less obvious from the main Coire Ardair Path). I stopped behind it today for a bit of shelter and a cup of tea. However, just after a poured my tea, I gust of wind sneaked round and blew half my cup of tea out of the cup and all over my gloves and jacket.

Yeah, a bit of a breezy one today. It was not the first time I have spilt my tea, and won’t be the last time I am sure (I always take slightly more tea than I am likely to drink on the hill in case of such emergencies). To be fair the jacket and gloves did a good of keeping me dry, but always happy to do a bit more tea R+D…

Those pesky gusts just get everywhere – an admirable test of the resilience of your equipment to inundation by different types of liquid – the equipment manufacturers will surely be adopting the ‘tea test’ as part of their future R+D programmes….
