Flat light and speckled snow terrain gave a certain, black & white and moody atmosphere today. Shot taken on descent from Wall Gully, close to Coire Chriochairein (you won’t find ‘Wall Gully’ in any guide book as it’s a high re-entrant use that doesn’t have name so we named after the nearby broken down stone wall). We use it at intervals for snow observations as it’s above 900m, holds a lot of snow and is a good analogue for the top of the Post Face.
Some cornices here and there – so the usual provisos – but the snow is bonding up nicely in the present conditions. Some potential for falling ice and rocks but, conversely, the ice on Last Post seems thicker/wider than when I last looked 3 days ago? A good refreeze would do wonders for general climbing conditions.
