The mist covered (bare) mountains.
15th December 2025
Only a trace of new snow on the ground today and exclusively above 900m. What older snow patches we have left (very few!) diminished again overnight after rain and mild temperatures. There’s some snow in the weather forecast for Creag Meagaidh – not much – but there may be a bit of drifting on the SW winds. Any new wind-drifted snow is expected to develop on steep N to E aspects above 950m but form over mainly bare ground and offer some slight but in reality negligible hazard. The forecasted wet and mild weather on Wednesday’s will see much of this new snow disappear leaving the mountains looking bereft of the white stuff. Again!
(Above) Looking West towards the hulking mass of Sron a Ghoire. Misty at all levels for much of the day. Snow cover on the hills in our patch notable by its absence. See below!
(Above) Raeburn’s Gully, the Pinnacle and the Post Face of Coire Ardair. Pretty much snow-free.
(Above) The NNE-facing crags of the Inner Coire of Coire Ardair. The twin corners of ‘The Wand’ and ‘Diadem’ top centre of the photo. There was a ribbon of old snow in ‘Cinderella’, far right, just a couple of days ago which has now completely disappeared.
(Above) 948m. Looking East across The Window – the high bealach in the Inner Coire. Just a smattering of fresh snow today from about 900m upwards.
(Above) Telephoto view of the steep NE-facing coire between the twin summits of Geal Charn 1049m & 1023m. A smidgen of old snow lingers at the top of this remote-feeling coire.
