Our northern boundary.

26th December 2025

Another stellar day with cold temperatures at most altitudes. Overall snow cover remains modest but the cold, frosty conditions means there little if any snow loss.

Most snow lies on steep N to E aspects above 950m in the environs of Coire Ardair. Creag Meagaidh summit plateau snow cover is mottled and characterised by streaks of old snow interspersed with vegetation. The Carn Liath plateau is snow-free.

Those planning to ascend, descend or traverse any steeply inclined snow beds should be deploying crampons and ice axes. There are also a few small areas of bullet-hard water ice on the flat or gently inclined places that can induce a slip or bout of unplanned, ungracious divvy-dancing for the unwary. Best steer a course around it.
