Blustery Day

Really blustery today with snow swirling around above 800m and very poor visibility in showers + really poor for most of the day at higher altitudes. Plenty of drifting but for the moment only limited accumulations of drifted snow. Here’s a flavour:
Winter Storm Doris is due tomorrow but our weather forecast indicates only relatively minor effects: we’ll see how that pans out.
(Above) Fresh snow at 600m on the main Coire Ardair path today with a little bit more drifted in at higher altitudes.
(Above) Looking up into the spindrift in Coire Chriochairein. The rocky boss on the skyline (at approx. 1000m) roughly delineates East aspects (to the left) and South East aspects (to the right). As you can see, certainly more snow blowing in onto East-facing lee slopes but, for the moment, only localised accumulations of windslab. Â Some blue sky! But only briefly and just for long enough to get the camera out and fire off a photo. Not the best day to be on the hill but at least it was more wintry than of late.
